A Loving Legacy

SHERIDAN SENIOR CENTER ENDOWMENT FUND FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW

What does an Endowment Do?  Why is it Important?

With an increasing number of people getting older, organizations that serve elders must think about how they are going to meet their needs. Creating an Endowment is a strategy an organization can take to become more financially independent and less reliant on the uncertainties associated with federal and state funds.

Endowment dollars are vital because they generate income, a portion of which is available year after year to support important programs such as daily on-site Senior Meals in several locations, Home Delivered Meals, In-Home Services, Day Break — Adult Day Services and Transportation. The rest of the money is wisely invested to build the fund.

Endowments to the Senior Center Endowment Fund will provide ongoing financial support and serve as meaningful ways for individuals, families, corporations or foundations to leave a lasting legacy.

Endowment Opportunities

There are a variety of ways you may make a gift to the Sheridan Senior Center Endowment Fund, while gaining tax and income benefits to yourself. We are happy to work with you and your financial advisors. Please consider the following:

Monetary Gifts & Pledges:  You may make a one time gift, or pledge over a period of time.  A pledge enables you as a donor, to contribute a larger gift if it is spread over a longer period of time.

Gifts Made Through Your Will:  While current gifts are needed, you are not limited to this form of giving. By making a bequest in your Will, you can help secure the future of services for senior citizens in Sheridan County.

Stocks and Bonds:  Stocks, bonds or other forms of securities may have specific tax advantages to the donor.

Life Insurance:  Life insurance policies that are no longer needed for family members can be assigned to the Senior Center and may be a way to easily make a sizeable contribution.

Other Forms of Giving:  Includes personal items that can be converted to cash, life income plans and trusts, real estate, family business gifts and commemorative or memorial gifts.

We urge you to consult your tax or legal advisor in your
planning. They may be able to suggest strategies that allow
for the maximum benefit to both donor and recipient.

“I made an Endowment to the Sheridan Senior Center’s Day Break Program in memory of my sister Esther.  She looked forward each and every day to the activities provided by the one of a kind, dedicated personnel who works there.  Esther’s days at Day Break were among the happiest as she liked to be around people.  It is my hope that the Endowment gift I made will provide income for Day Break activities for years to come.”   - Frank Rauzi

“Giving to an endowment is a very personal expression of support. It says that you believe in what the organization stands for and what it does; it says that you want the organization to be here for those who will need its services well beyond today.”  - Lynn Mavrakis

“We are extremely fortunate in this community to have all the programs our Senior Center offers.  The kind and caring staff make you feel special — my mother loves being there!  By supporting this Endowment Fund, we can be assured that services for our families will be available for all of the todays and tomorrows to come.”  - Stella Montano
